What does Helmut Marko actually do at Red Bull?
It’s a question that was on so many lips even before Red Bull opted to swap Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda after just two races of the new Formula 1 season. Comments made by Helmut Marko after the opening round in Australia had already put him firmly in the crosshairs of many fans, such was the overt display of his approach to handling young drivers. Marko called Isack Hadjar’s tears – after the rookie crashed out on the formation lap in Melbourne – “a bit embarrassing”, in contrast to the widespread support that the Racing Bulls driver had received.
