Ryō Hirakawa leaves Alpine to join Haas
Having taken part in the opening practice at the Japanese Grand Prix with Alpine, Ryō Hirakawa has announced that he will join Haas as reserve driver in the remainder of the 2025 F1 season. The Japanese driver – who currently competes for Toyota in the FIA World Endurance Championship – will now join Haas following a successful outing at the post-season test in Abu Dhabi last December where he drove the American team’s VF-24. Having participated in several FP1 outings with F1 teams, from 2024 to as recently as last weekend in Japan, Hirakawa will get behind the wheel of the VF-25 at four FP1 sessions this season.
