Pole 'very special' for Verstappen, but race pace remains uncertain
Max Verstappen says his stunning pole position at the Japanese Grand Prix is “a very special one” after unexpectedly beating both McLarens. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri were favorites to fight it out for pole at Suzuka, with George Russell an outside threat based on the limited free practice running that had been seen.
