Fernando Alonso reveals retirement plans

Fernando Alonso has leapt up the Formula 1 grid this season, fighting for pole position and podiums against his Red Bull and Mercedes rivals. With a newly designed Aston Martin at his control, Alonso has secured a podium at every race of the 2023 season so far, with consecutive third place finishes. As the oldest Formula 1 driver currently racing, 41-year-old Alonso is thought by some to be in the final years of his career, having already stepped away from the sport once before.  At the end of the 2018 season, Alonso took a break from Formula 1 after a difficult period at McLaren during which he never finished higher than fifth in a race.
