Hamilton misses the cut for SPOTY short-list
Lewis Hamilton's epic challenge for the 2021 title has not done enough to put him on the Sports Personality of the Year short-list. The Sports Personality of the Year event is held annually by the BBC in December, designed to recognise and celebrate British sporting successes, but two-time winner Hamilton will not be up for selection this time around. The news comes as something of a surprise, with Hamilton having got within a lap of claiming an eighth F1 World Championship before a late Safety Car in Abu Dhabi and controversial Race Control intervention saw the title go in favour of Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
