Verstappen was beaten to the victory at Interlagos, despite starting from the front row with Lewis Hamilton starting from 10th on the grid. Having been caught by the Mercedes driver, Verstappen was powerless to prevent Hamilton from overtaking him down the straight between Turns 3 and 4 as the Mercedes got within DRS range.
