Lauda walks out of the Prancing Horse's stable

©CahierArchive Forty years ago, Niki Lauda walked out on what many viewed as the perfect marriage between man and machine. The great Austrian had just sealed his second world championship title with Ferrari, but lingering conflicts and bitter disputes which had started the year before had taken their toll on his relationship with the Scuderia and Enzo Ferrari. Lauda was fed up. With two races remaining in the 1977 season, he simply walked away.
