Pascal Wehrlein set for pit lane start amid engine woes

Sauber’s Pascal Wehrlein is set to start the Austrian Grand Prix from the pit lane after a post-qualifying engine change. Wehrlein set the slowest time during Saturday’s qualifying session amid a difficult weekend for Sauber, with the C36-Ferraris firmly at the rear of the pack. Wehrlein, who scored a point for Manor at last year’s corresponding event, was set to line up from 20th place, but will instead take the race start from the pit lane. “I continued to have power unit issues, and that made me lose pace, especially on the straights,” Wehrlein said of his qualifying effort.
