Power Unit Issues Halt Toro Rosso Filming Day

Toro Rosso were forced to cut short their filming day after discovering a problem with the power unit in the new STR12. The Italian team failed to reach their limit of 100km of running, which is permitted for all teams by the FIA for the approved ‘filming days'. The issue was believed to be related to the energy recovery system (ERS) of their Renault power unit. Toro Rosso have used Renault power units since the 2014 season – the start of the V6 hybrid era – except for last season, when they used year-old Ferrari power units.
