Vettel's Austrian race undone by tyre failure

Austrian Grand Prix – Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel was forced to watch the second half of the race after a tyre failure put him out. Vettel had been fighting for a potential podium place on Sunday, having worked his way into the lead of the race after some of the cars in front of him had pitted. Running for 27 laps on the SuperSoft tyre, the plan was to run a one stop strategy and swap to the Soft tyres. Approaching that single stop, he had just crossed the start finish line when his right rear tyre exploded and he spun off into the barriers.
