Alonso urges McLaren to keep pushing with 2016 car

Fernando Alonso has urged his McLaren team to keep pushing on with developments this year, rather than shift its entire focus on to the 2017 car. A number of teams are currently weighing up how best to split resources between their current chassis and the faster cars coming for next year, with potential benefits coming if they commit early to the 2017 project. But although McLaren could be tempted to abandon its current campaign, Alonso thinks it would be wrong for the team to write off this season.
