Wehrlein delighted at Mercedes chance
Manor driver Pascal Wehrlein was ecstatic when he received the call up from parent team Mercedes to finish their programme on the final in-season testing day in Barcelona. Wehrlein got the nod instead of Renault reserve driver Esteban Ocon, who is also on the Mercedes driver development programme. Chatting with reporters at the end of testing, the German youngster explained that although the request was late, he couldn’t miss the opportunity to be put in a Championship winning car and added that the team benefited from yesterday as they retrieved valuable data about their upgrades.
