Button – McLaren yet to show full qualifying potential

Russian Grand Prix – Jenson Button said in the Thursday press conference ahead of the Russian Grand Prix that McLaren are yet to show their full potential in qualifying. We are yet to see McLaren in Q3 since they reunited with Honda as an engine supplier last year. So far their best qualifying performance has been Fernando Alonso’s two twelfth places in Australia and China, although the team felt a top 10 position was possible were it not for a late red flag in Q2 last time out. “I think the last race, if you look at it – it’s very difficult for a driver, because you come home 12th and 13th and it’s not where you want to be,” Button said, “but if you look at it compared...
