Button: Halo Would’ve Helped Alonso

Jenson Button believes that the proposed ‘halo’ safety concept that was trialled in pre-season testing in Barcelona would have helped his McLaren teammate Fernando Alonso in his shock-incident in the season opening Australian Grand Prix. It was widely commented that the device would have hindered the Spaniard who landed upside-down in his McLaren after clipping the rear of Esteban Gutierrez’ Haas.  But the 36-year-old British world champion, who is a director of the Grand Prix Drivers’ Association, disagrees.
