Magnussen had assurances over 2015 seat at McLaren

Kevin Magnussen has claimed that he was given assurances over a seat at McLaren for the 2015 Formula 1 season before being demoted to the role of reserve driver. Magnussen made his F1 debut with McLaren in 2014, but was dropped after just a single season to allow for Fernando Alonso's arrival at the team. The Dane spent 2015 in a reserve role under Alonso and teammate Jenson Button before being informed that he would not be retained for 2016, freeing him up to find a drive elsewhere. In an interview with Danish newspaper Ekstra Bladet, Magnussen claimed that McLaren told him he would be partnering Alonso in 2015 before deciding to retain Button instead.
