Local hope Kvyat sympathetic over disruptive fuel spill
Daniil Kvyat says he can sympathise with the organisers of the Russian Grand Prix after a diesel spillage by a course vehicle caused issues on the first day of free practice at the Sochi Autodrom. A diesel spillage from a course vehicle at turns seven and eight shortly before the start of FP1 forced organisers to delay the session by 30mins to necessitate a large clean-up operation, which eventually resulted in fire-fighting hoses being used to pressure-wash the oil off. When the session did eventually get underway, the drivers were forced to complete their opening laps on intermediate rubber in order to negotiate the damp parts of the track.
