McLaren summoned to stewards office after tyre mistake

British Grand Prix – McLaren have been summonsed to appear in front of the stewards after Fernando Alonso's car was found to have used a tyre assigned to Jenson Button's car.  Alonso, who qualified a lowly 17th after another poor session for the McLaren team, is under investigation for using a tyre that was supposed to only be used by Jenson Button. Technical Delegate Jo Bauer says that Car No. 14's use of a right hand rear tyre assigned to Car 22 (Alonso's & Button's respectively) is a breach of Article 25.4 of the Sporting Regulations. A team representative is required to attend a meeting with the stewards at 4pm local time.
