FIA planning to bring in engine cost cap

FIA president Jean Todt says Formula 1's governing body is planning to address the high costs of power units for customer teams, admitting that the issue was initially overlooked. The move away from V8 engines to 1.6 litre V6 Turbo power units for the 2014 season saw costs for customer outfits increase substantially. Marussia and Caterham both entered administration towards the end of last year, although a late rescue deal saw the former return to the grid at the start of this season, racing under the Manor name.
