Verstappen s high hopes cooled by tyre troubles
Despite scoring a landmark top ten starting position for his Monaco Grand Prix debut, Max Verstappen was left disgruntled at being unable to capitalise on his searing practice pace due to cooler qualifying temperatures. Verstappen snatched headlines on Thursday by marking his first outing around the iconic street circuit with the second fastest time in FP1, the Dutchman proving quick again in FP2 and FP3, despite suffering a spin in the latter. Quick again in qualifying, though he proceeded to cruise into the final phase of the shootout with a view to getting on the upper rows, the threat of rain and the cooler temperatures would leave him floundering at the crucial moment when he couldn't...
