Audi ‘has no intention to enter Formula 1’
Audi have once again dismissed suggestions it is poised to enter Formula 1. There has been consistent speculation that a Volkswagen Group brand is on the verge of launching a project involving F1, which was seemingly strengthened in recent days by the departure of its chief Ferdinand Piech. Piech stood down from his position after losing out in a power struggle with the VW Group board, with Martin Winterkorn set to assume his position as the head of the world's second largest car manufacturer. It is believed Piech had ruled out F1 while Bernie Ecclestone maintains his current involvement, while Winterkorn is reportedly much more open to considering a venture into the series.
