Ericsson owns up to driver error
Sauber's Marcus Ericsson conceded that a driver error cost him the chance to score points at the Malaysian Grand Prix. Ericsson had enjoyed a successful weekend up until his retirement, the Swedish pilot qualified in 10th but was promoted to 9th on the grid following Romain Grosjean's penalty. In the early stages of the race, however, whilst battling with Nico Hulkenberg, the Sauber driver attempted a pass around the outside of turn one. The pass didn't succeed and Ericsson 'lost the rear' and ended up on the edge of the gravel trap, bringing out the safety car. “It is a very frustrating end to a good weekend,' said Ericsson.
