Rosberg struggles with brakes in Shanghai qualifying

Getty Images Enlarge Braking issues were behind Nico Rosberg's struggle in qualifying for the Chinese Grand Prix, but he admitted he was not quick enough in general to challenge for the front row of the grid. The Mercedes drivers have become accustomed to leading the field this year, but in the wet conditions Rosberg was only able to qualify fourth, behind both Red Bulls. On his final attempt in Q3 he spun coming out of the final corner, but said he had to take risks to close the 1.2s gap to team-mate Lewis Hamilton on pole.
