FIA announces major changes to '14 regulations

The FIA has confirmed three major changes will be made to the 2014 Sporting Regulations in time for next year's championship. During a meeting of the F1 Strategy Group and the Formula One Commission in Paris on Monday, unanimous agreement was given to introduce permanent driver numbers. "Drivers will be asked to choose their race number, between 2 and 99, for the duration of their career in the FIA Formula One World Championship," read a statement. "Number 1 will be reserved for the current World Champion, should he choose to use it.
